Audition Registation
Pippin
CCPAC strives to create an inclusive audition process. We encourage actors of all genders, sexuality, ethnicity, size and ability to submit an audition. Please contact us if you need accommodations. Members of the cast, creative and production teams will receive an honorarium based on a percentage of ticket sale profits for their work. There is a $100 guarantee, anything additional is dependent on ticket sales. As we grow, we hope that we are able to continue offering artists adequate compensation for their work.
Audition Requirements

VOCAL AUDITION: Please prepare two contrasting songs in the style of the show no longer than a 32 bar cut. You will be required to sing with an instrumental track, please bring them with you to the audition or send them to us prior to your auditions. We will have a bluetooth speaker available for you to sing with. All performers must complete a vocal audition. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
VOCAL AUDITION DATES: June 11th 5:00 - 10:00pm & June 12th 5:00 - 7:00pm. Location: Gasworks (141 Park Street North, Hamilton)
DANCE AUDITIONS: Following vocal auditions all adult auditionees are invited to our dance call. Please come ready to move and perform. Auditionees will be released as the evening goes on, we cannot give an exact time, thank you for your understanding. Youth auditioning for THEO do not need to attend the dance audition.

CALLBACKS: Following vocal & dance auditions select performers will be invited to callbacks, please check your emails frequently following the first round auditions.

Pippin Character Breakdown
SYNOPSIS: Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavours, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.
CHARACTERS:
Roles that have an asterisks (*) are available for youth to audition for, all other roles are only for performers 19+. If you have any questions or need clarification please reach out to us. The roles have vocal ranges listed but there are no set gender guidelines for any roles. Please audition for the role you feel you fit best. All roles will be required to dance as members of the ensemble throughout the show.
BERTHE: Pippin's saucy grandmother. A brassy woman full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest. Vocal Range: E3 - C5
CATHERINE: A widow and mother. She is a beautiful and hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him. Vocal Range: F#3 - Db5
CHARLEMAGNE: Pippin's demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride. Vocal Range: G2 - E4
FASTRADA: Pippin's conniving stepmother, she is both beautiful and smart. Devious, crafty, cunning, untrustworthy. Dedicated to gaining the throne for her darling son, Lewis. Vocal Range: A3 - F5
LEADING PLAYER: The ultimate 'ring leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. Excellent mover. The role requires a strong sense of physicality and movement. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience. Vocal Range: Db3 - Ab4
PIPPIN: Our story's young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontent. Eventually finds love, and meaning in life, with Catherine and Theo. Vocal Range: G2 - Ab4
LEWIS: Charlemagne and Fastrada’s son. Strong and not bright. Pippin’s half brother and after Pippin, heir to the throne. Addicted to the physical, Lewis loves weight lifting, Lewis loves wrestling, but most of all, Lewis loves Lewis. Requires good physicality.
*THEO: Catherine’s son, 7-14 yrs old. Adults and Youth will be considered for this role*Youth Note: This character regularly swears in the dialogue, please preview the musical prior to auditioning for this role. Youth do not need to attend the dance audition.
PLAYERS: Heavily featured throughout. Ensemble “Players” play many other roles; they represent the influences and voices in Pippin’s head. Includes substantial choreography. The role requires a strong sense of physicality and movement.
Rehearsal Information
Rehearsals will take place in Downtown Hamilton at Gasworks, rehearsals will occur three times a week with the full schedule below. Cast availability will be taken into consideration when creating the rehearsal schedule, please let us know your availability for rehearsal days in your audition form, if there are any conflicts we will do our best to accommodate what we can if given advanced notice.

The following rehearsals and show dates are mandatory. If notice is given upon auditions, arrangements are possible for the day time hours of August 11th, at minimum performers are expected at 5:00pm that day.
